Going to HEAL

Why am I going to H.E.A.L. = Helping to Educate and Activate Leaders.
The goals of my ministry, HEAL Uganda, are contained within its four simple letters.

• H is for ‘Help’. Presently, the student to professor ratio in the nursing department of Uganda Christian University is quite high. By coming alongside the faculty, I hope to decrease their overall teaching load, offer my knowledge, and help develop strong Christian nurses. 
• E is for ‘Educate’. I wish to help educate student nurses, enabling them to provide excellent evidence-based care to patients and families. 
• A is for ‘Activate’. I plan on working beside Ugandan nurse faculty to activate students into identifying and initiating changes in practice to improve the health of the population. 
• L is for ‘Lead’.  Nursing in Uganda is quite different, needing strong native leaders willing to work against cultural norms to improve nursing practices.
